Pass your motorcycle driving test in Peterborough

If you’re looking to achieve a licence to ride a motorcycle in the UK, there’s a few things you need to know. At Goldstar Motorcycle Training, we deliver a full range of approved training courses and tests for every type of motorcycle driving licence, so read below to find out more, or contact us today to book your sessions.

Provisional licence

You must have a valid provisional UK licence with the proper moped or motorcycle entitlement in order to begin your motorcycle test course.

If you already have a full car driving licence, then this entitles you to take your motorcycle test, and you do not need to apply for a separate provisional licence.

Once you have your provisional licence, you must bring the plastic photocard with you to your training and test.

CBT

Compulsory Basic Training is a government course run by approved providers around the UK. We are an approved provider of CBT and run a comprehensive course that is one of the first legal requirements for anyone wishing to gain a motorcycle licence.

It will teach you the basics on how to ride a motorcycle correctly and safely and can normally be completed in a day.

On successful completion, those aged 16 can ride a moped up to a maximum of 50cc, whilst those over 17 can ride up to a maximum of 125cc. In both cases you will have to display ‘L’ Plates and are not permitted to carry a pillion passenger.
A CBT certificate is only valid for two years.

Theory test

If you’re ready to take your full test to achieve your motorcycle licence, you must first complete the MOTORCYCLE  Highway Code theory test.
The test consists of two elements, the first of which is a number of multiple choice questions on the Highway Code and general road safety.
The second element is called Hazard Perception and requires you to view a number of video clips. Whilst viewing these you will click the mouse whenever you see a potential hazard. The sooner you click the mouse the higher your score will be. Click the buttons below to take either a mock theory or hazard perception test.

Module 1 and 2

Gaining your full licence involves passing two separate modules, known as Module 1 and Module 2. Once you have successfully completed both modules in succession, you’ll have your licence!

Module 1 takes place in a special off-road environment and requires you to complete specific manoeuvres at set speeds. It includes slow riding, emergency braking, u-turns and bike control exercises.

Module 2 is an on-road riding test, where you’ll be followed by an examiner with a radio link. You’ll be prompted by specific instructions, and also be asked to ride independently for a set period.
